What are contact tags and how to add a tag to a contact?

Contact tags in Collect let you label and organize your contacts with keywords, making it easier to search, filter, and automate actions across your workspace. You can assign multiple tags to a contact and use those tags to group recipients for requests or recurring workflows.

Why use contact tags?

Tags help you:
Filter and search contacts easily in your contact list
Select recipients by tag when sending a request
Automate recurring requests based on tagged groups
Group contacts by criteria like company, location, client type, or onboarding stage

Using tags when sending a request

When you're setting up a new request, you can filter your contact list by tag to quickly select relevant recipients.
Start typing a tag in the contact selection field.
Collect will show only contacts with that tag.
Use the checkboxes to choose which contacts to send the request to.

This helps you save time and ensures you're always sending requests to the right group of people.

Using tags with recurring requests

Tags also work seamlessly with recurring requests:
When setting up a recurring request, you can select a tag instead of manually choosing contacts.
Any new contact added later with that same tag will automatically be included in the upcoming request cycles.

This is ideal for rolling onboarding or periodic updates.

How to add contact tags

There are a few easy ways to add tags to contacts in Collect:

1. While creating a new contact

Go to Contacts from the left sidebar.
Click Add contact.
Enter your desired tag(s) in the Add tags field.
Complete the contact details and click Save contact.

2. To multiple existing contacts

In the Contacts list, select the checkboxes for the contacts you want to tag.
Click the Add a tag button (tag icon) at the top of the list.

Type your tag(s) in the Add tags field.
Click Update contacts to apply.

3. To a single contact

Open a contact from the Contacts list.
Click Edit this contact in the top-right corner.
Add or remove tags in the Add tags field.
Click Save contact to confirm your changes.

4. While importing contacts via CSV

During the import process, you’ll see a field labeled Add tags.
You can enter one or more tags to apply to all contacts in the file.

Summary

Contact tags make it easy to group, filter, and automate how you manage recipients across your Collect workspace. Whether you’re sending one-time requests or setting up ongoing workflows, tags help you stay organized and efficient.
